Ok, so I think I'm officially dead, or dead tired anyway, lol. I haven't really slept in two days. For some reason, I just have not been able to sleep. Wonderful.

So, today I had two finals, back to back, essay finals. In total I wrote five essays today. I had three essay questions in Urban Sociology, and one essay question in English. After those finals, I had to go home and write a paper. So I wrote about 15 or 20 pages today. I'm mentally drained.

After writing the paper I went out with my friend. We went to the most exciting place on earth, Staples! Yahoo!!!! After that we went to TGI Fridays. We got some steaks, some cokes, my friend won a free desert by singing a Bob Marley song, and we had a beer.

Her boyfriend came to pick her up and he was nice enough to drive me home. So now I'm home. I'm exhausted. Lol. I'm going to lie down now, lol.

My day was pretty much shit, how was yours?

Friday, May 19, 2006

Well, so yesterday was my birthday. My best friend and my boyfriend called me at 8am, because according to my father I was born at 8am. According to my mother I was born at 9:00 or 9:30, but whatever, lol.

So, I didn't really do much during the day. I just got dressed, took a change of clothes, and went to work. Everybody at work wished me a happy birthday. One of the other gymnastics teachers said that I was a grandma, lol.

After work I took my little bag of clothes over to my friends house, my boyfriend came over. I changed my clothes. I couldn't wear my sweat pants out on our date on my birthday! Lol. So I wore a teal top, and white capris, with purple pumps. I put my hair up with a pretty clip. I was wearing chandelier white and brass colored earrings, but I took them off, because my boyfriend got me pretty earrings for my birthday. They are gold and pearl, very pretty, sophisticated.

So we hung around with my friend for a while, my boyfriend met her mother, lol. My friend took pictures of me and my boyfriend. I got a picture with my friend and one with her mother too. So after hanging around and chatting my boyfriend and I left. Apparently, my friend had told him that there was this restaurant that I always wanted to go to on my birthday. It's out on Long Island, it's called Bongusto (no idea how to spell it, lol). So we headed out there only to find out that they had closed early because there was nobody there. Well, it was a Thursday. Anyway, we ended up going to P.F. Changs. It was good. I ordered my first cup of wine as a legal wine orderer, lol. I ordered pinot grogiot. My boyfriend got a beer in honor of my birthday. So we ate dinner and then we went back to my house. We hung out for a while and then my boyfriend went home.

Friday I spent writing a paper, I didn't even go outside until after 8pm. Around 11pm my friend came over with her friend who's visiting her from Philly. She's nice. So we hung out for a while, ate some birthday cake, and I sent them home in a cab.

Tomorrow I'm seeing The DaVinci Code with my boyfriend. We'll see what I do during the day.

So how was your last couple of days? I hope you all had a good May 18th. Let me know....

I'm tired, it's 4:39 am right now, I'm going to go to sleep. Ttyl!!!!!

Thursday, May 18, 2006

Well, it's my birthday!!! We'll see how the day progresses.

Tuesday, May 16, 2006

Just for the hell of it, or halibut as my father would say, my birthday is in two days. Can't wait to lose consciousness from legal alcohol abuse! Kidding, just kidding, really.

Let me start with Sunday. It was Mother's Day/My birthday party up in Connecticut (my aunt lives there). We all went up there (me, my mom, my dad, my stepfather, and my grandmother). We had a nice little day. My aunt made some good food, we ate, we talked, we pet her cats, lol. It was fun. About an hour after we got home my mother's nose started bleeding. Not a regular nose bleed, she was gushing. There were two sink fulls of blood, and it wasn't stopping. My stepdad called EMT's and they took my mom to LIJ. She finally stopped bleeding at the hospital. Then she started again. Then it stopped. By the time we got home it was about 3 AM. It was a very long day. She seems to be fine now.

Well, Monday I was too tired to go to school since I was supposed to be there at 8:00am. I just went to work. I met my boyfriend for lunch, I don't think he's ever seen me completely out of it before. I was exhausted, I had just finished teaching two classes. I was laughing hysterically at one point, it was nice. He didn't break up with me, he must like me, lol.

Today was the last day of classes. I gave a presentation I was totally unprepared to give. It went ok. The next class we watched pieces of apocalypse Now and had a little pizza party. It was the last day of class today. I still have two days of finals to look forward to, but I'm done basically for the term.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your day, how was?

Sunday, May 14, 2006

Well tonight was interesting. My friend came over about 6:00pm. She was supposed to meet up with her boyfriend around 7:00ish. The asshole sort of stood her up, so she ended up staying with me and my boyfriend who came over at 7:00. So she stayed with us for dinner. First we were going to stay in the area, but both my friend and my boyfriend, as we were driving down the street, kept seeing people they knew. Students, acquaintances, etc... So we went out to Long Island. We were going to go to The Cheesecake Factory, but there was a big wait. Then we were going to go to P.F. Changs (P.D. Changs, whatever it's called). There was a 50 minute wait. So we wandered over to the Olive Garden. Also a big wait, but we just waited, there was nowhere else to wander to. Finally, after waiting a half hour or more we got a table.

After dinner we all came back to my house. My friends boyfriend picked her up, and my boyfriend stayed for a while. Now I'm just lying here waiting for him to call me to tell me he got home safely. He better get home safely.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, and I haven't even got my mother a card. I wrote her a poem one year, but in general I'm not much of a poem person, can't write them. When I do, they aren't usually happy. Whatever. I'm tired.

I tried doing laundry this afternoon. The washing machine worked, the sink leaked, the dryer didn't dry anything. So, all my sheets are wet, my quilt is wet, and the majority of my clothes are wet. I guess I'll have to get them dried tomorrow somehow. I don't really know what to do about that. I guess I can take my stuff to the local Laundromat. Oysh.

Anyhow, good night people.

Btw, my boyfriend got home safely, lol. Yay!

Naughty children! That's all I got to say about work yesterday. My boyfriend came with me, stayed the whole time. It was cute. He ran into one of his students, that was funny. My students were there, his student was there, we were all just one big happy (or not) family, lol.

Today, there were a lot of people in my room, all before 9:00am, and they were ALL men, hahahah. There was the alarm guy, the GE people (who came to fix the washing machine), and the construction workers that are always here. I've gotten so used to men in my room while I'm sleeping, that I just stayed in bed. When they started making a lot of noise I got my CD player, plugged myself in, and listened to music instead of hammering and whatnot. The alarm guy was here for a very long time. He kept making the alarm go off, boy is it loud. I mean that's good, but, oh boy...

After all that excitement I went to school. Oh and how the fun continues. Well, we didn't do much in class. We talked about what would be on the final. We read some poetry. That's it.

After class I went to Macy's. I needed to get something. Along with what I went to get, I also got my mom a new umbrella. I was going to go see if there was something to get me, but I didn't have time, I had to get home for dinner. Actually, I was looking for a replacement bag, mine is falling apart. I found two possibilities, one was $168.00, and the other was $78.00. Now, between the two, I like one of those prices better than the other, however, I would like to not spend more than $50.00 on a bag. Even that I would consider a bit much. Hmm...

So, my teacher graded my Frankenstein paper check plus. I need to revise and expand it. It needs to grow by a page and a half. I have no idea what more to write. I should read the book, or at least watch the movie. Grr...

Well.... Bye! Tell me about your day.

Thursday, May 11, 2006

Well, I can't figure out how else to get my picture in here, I'll keep trying though, I mean why not? I wanted my face to be on my blog to begin with anyway.

Well, today I went to school and came back. Thus far that's been my day. My birthday is in exactly 7 days, a week left, yahoo! What's so great about getting older anyway. All it means apparently is that you have to worry about more crap. Tumors, children, marriage, etc... When I was younger all I had to worry about was how to aggrivate my mother that day. Or how to get my mother to buy me new shoes. I had to worry about school. Well, I guess I still have that to worry about, lol. Actually, school is over for me on the 16th, so only five more days, that includes the weekend. I have two more days of classes left. Then, for the term, I am so fucking done!

Then I can wory about how to fill my days until summer session at work starts. Speaking of which, I should probably ask my boss what date work starts on. It's probably the day after the public schools close for the summer. Then we have off July 4th. I have to figure out whatI want to do on the 4th. Usually I go with my mom and stepdad to the Brooklyn promonade and watch the Macy's fireworks. I think this year though I might do something different. We'll see...

I'll let you know how the rest of my day goes after I've had it. Seems fair don't you think?

Basically, my father just advised me not to have children. There is a tumor that runs in my family. A "glomus mass" he called it. It attaches itself to the endocrine system. Basically, there is no possibility that I don't have it. Genetically speaking it is also worst to have it in my position, passed on from father to daughter. Now all I have to wait and see, is how this thing manifests itself. Apparently it was first found in Holland. Where did my Russian/ Polish family get it? Who the hell knows?

I could just try to have male children, but they would still be carriers, somewhere down the line I'm sure one of my children or grandchildren would have a girl, then they would be symptomatic. This was really a great way to end the evening, this is what I need to think about now.

At least it gave me a blog entry, I wasn't sure what I was going to write about, besides the air conditioning mess in my house. Grr... I'm closed in by boxes again. For once I'm glad I have to be in school at 8:00am, I won't be here when they move all the boxes back into the laundry room. They better do it in a timely fashion. They were supposed to come deal with all this around 8:00am this morning. So I woke up, got dressed, and went back to sleep until they came. When I woke up again around 11:00am, they still hadn't come. I left they house at 2:00pm. They did in fact come about 8:00, but it was PM, not AM. I hope when all this construction is over I'm still alive.

*sigh*

So, how was your night?

Tuesday, May 09, 2006

Well, to continue the countdown my birthday is in 9 days. My aunt is throwing me a partyish thing on Sunday. I thought it was a Mother's Day thing, somehow though I was told she forgot it was Mother's Day. Anyway...

The entry below this one is a paper I wrote for my English class this morning and handed in this afternoon. It's really only the beginning of the paper, so don't worry. I hope to make it better, or longer anyway, lol. It's on frankincense by the way. I have never managed to get through the book, seriously, I just think it's incredibly boring. I sort of like the story, but the book is just soooo aggravating. It's short and yet goes on and on. I wonder how Mary Shelley did it. Anyway...

Classes end on May 16th and my last final is on May 25th. There's another little countdown for you, lol. After that, aside from work, I'm free. I would go away myself for a couple of days, but I don't have the money. Besides where would I go? I could got to Boston, but what for. I'd rather wait and go with someone. Maybe I'll pick up more hours at work, save some money. I'm bad at that, saving money that is. I don't think I make enough to save actually. I pretty much get a pay check and spend it every two weeks. Not on anything big. I mean there's the occasional pair of shoes I can't live without, but other than that... I buy food. That's it. Lol.

Anyway, I don't have much of anything else to say. The construction workers are coming into my room to cut holes in my wall and put airconditioning vents in. They are starting this work around 8am. Me? I'm going to wake up at 7:30, get dressed and spend the day at my dad's house. Maybe I'll go to the gym later on. Thursday I get to wake up at 6:30 and go to school. I think I'm having lunch with my boyfriend, then going to work. Thursday will be a tired day (tiring because of the waking up early). Tomorrow, once I get to my dad's house I'll probably just fall back asleep.

Anyway... Bye people!
The pursuit of knowledge is generally thought to be a good thing. However, when anything is taken to the extreme it is never good. In Frankenstein, Victor crosses a line that he should have left alone. I think one of the themes of this book is: just because you might have the ability to do something, doesn’t mean you should do it. Victor played god and was punished. everybody who he had ever loved or cared about was taken away from him. If he had not created the monster in the first place, his life would probably have continued on happily with his life.
In the novel, Victor has a thirst for knowledge. He is obsessed with the reanimation of life. He learns how to bring the dead back and goes about collecting body parts. At first he thinks his monster is beautiful. It has yellow skin stretched over muscles, it had black hair, and pearly white teeth. The monster had watery eyes, a shriveled complexion and black lips. Once it is alive though Victor was scared of it, hence abandoned it, thus creating his problems. The monster, at its inception, was a gentle creature. After being abandoned by Victor the monster realized that because of his hideous appearance nobody could love him. He became increasingly violent and vengeful. He killed Victor’s brother, his wife, his father by proxy, and eventually causes the death of Victor himself, sort of.
All of this happens because Victor was curious about reanimation. Victor and his monster are both incredibly lonely. Victor is stuck in his mind, a mind filled with scientific facts and academia, and the monster is trapped by his appearance. Even when the monster is doing good, he gets beaten and driven out of town because of his grotesque looks. Both of them realize that they are alone in the world, perhaps only having each other. The monster tries to get Victor to make a bride for him, and Victor does in fact get married. However, Victor destroys the monster’s bride and in turn the monster destroys Elizabeth, Victor’s bride. Victor finally dies on Walton’s ship after telling him his life’s story. Victor had become the monster, he is consumed with revenge. After Victor’s death the monster weeps for his creator, which I think shows that the creature is a man to be pitied. He goes off to the ice caps to die. Finally the whole business is over. Both man and monster are dead.
In general, I think the monster is a more pitiable character than Victor. Victor had a choice in what he was doing. He didn’t have to create the monster at all. The Monster on the other hand, had no choice. It was not his actions which compelled him to life, it was Victor’s actions. He was condemned by society because of his outer appearance, not his true nature. At first he was a gentle creature, loving of nature and humanity. However, after being abandoned by Victor, in essence his father, and being driven out of town by scared people, he became less and less human and more the monster that he looked. Victor brought on his own troubles. He was one of those people that is perhaps too smart for their own good. By creating his monster, Victor lost everything, all the people he cared about, but also his humanity. He became the monster that he created.

Monday, May 08, 2006

OK, I had a very uninteresting day. Well, it's Monday, what do you expect. The hi-light of my day was meeting my boyfriend for lunch, that was the fun in my day. I miss him.

So, the excitement which drove me to write a blog entry now was a not so little dead bee, possibly wasp. I just got home, it's about 11:30pm. I go to put my bag down on my desk chair, and what do I see there? A dead yellow and black striped thing. It was curled up and its wings were sticking straight out. Before touching it I had to make sure it was dead and not resting between flights. How did I check? You think I touched it? What're you nuts? Well, I hate to admit this, but I sprayed it from across the room with a spray bottle. So, after it not moving while being sprayed, I got a paper towel and picked it up very carefully. I carried it over to the toilet and tried to dislodge it from the towel. Why? Because you're not supposed to throw paper towels down the drain. The damn bug wouldn't come off! I thought it was either stuck on by its stinger, or it was alive and hold ing on for dear life. So, I threw the towel in the toilet. Did I just flush it? No. You're not supposed to flush paper towels down the drain. So after making sure it was dead by drowning. I, umm.... Well, I stuck my hand in the toilet and tried to pull the paper away from the bug. This didn't work. The damn bug wouldn't come off the paper. So I ended up flushing the whole thing. I hope I don't have lingering plumbing problems now... I also hope there isn't a nest somewhere in the house. I hope I'm not going to wake up with a bunch of bees in my mouth. I kind of want one of those mosquito nets surrounding my bed now. Oy. Ever see "Silence of the Lambs"? Well, I hope I don't wake up with a bug in my mouth.

I got nothing else to say right now.

P.S. my personal info. is not IN, not IN, my blog itself.

Birthday countdown: 11 days! (a note to my readers: I'm not actually all that excited about my birthday, I just like to count, lol)

Well, I was right. I didn't reorganize my room, or go to the gym. I have an excuse though, I was in too much pain, lol. Anyway, later in the evening my boyfriend came and picked me up. We ate dinner in Pizzeria Uno. After that we went to Starbucks and Barnes & Noble. Then we went back to my boyfriend's house and watched High Fidelity. I'd never actually seen that movie, hmm... It was ok, funny, but I think it went on a bit too long. So, that was my Saturday.

My Sunday, today, was alright. I had to go to work today. I did a swimming birthday party. I had certain issues with that today, but I survived. So, I spent a lot of time with a little girl hanging around my neck because she couldn't swim. She was cute, very bossy, but cute, lol. It wasn't a bad party, it ran smoothly. Really, there was nothing exciting about it.

After the party my father picked me up. We went back to his house, ordered some Chinese food, and I fell asleep. I've really got nothing else to report, it wasn't the most exciting of weekends. That's certainly ok, I don't need that much excitement in my life, lol.

As a side note, I can't wait until the term ends, just a couple more weeks....

P.S. To those of you interested, I can't put personal information, about how to contact me actually IN my blog.

Friday, May 05, 2006

I must start off by mentioning that my birthday is in 13 days. Yahoooooo.... Lol.

To my commenter, Anonymous: Yes, I do think you should change your name, lol. Why do you think I'm 17? I'm turning 21, so you were right the first time, I am older than you. I was curious, what country do you live in? England, Australia? I just ask because you used the word hols, and, whereas I know what that means, it's not an expression to be found in the United States very often. Just curious. : - )

Anyway, I just spent the last two hours or so trying to fix the internet connection in my house. First, I come home, and my mother assaults me, "Mira, my computer won't go on!" Fine. So I go upstairs to try and fix it. So I turned the power strip that her computer is plugged into, off. Her computer goes back on. Now her internet connection is dead. Absolutely no reason for that I may add. The internet connection isn't plugged into the power strip I turned off. Ucch. I still had an Internet connection via my wireless service, good old linksys. So, I unplugged that, plugged it back in, now I have no internet access, damn linksys. So I reset the box. My mother now has internet. However, I don't and neither did my stepfather on his computer. At this point I kind of gave up. I was aggravated with the whole thing. About 10 minutes later, my stepfather comes downstairs and wants me to try unplugging and plugging back his computer to see if that would fix anything. Why should it? Whatever. I wasn't going to argue. So, that didn't work, big shock. So since I was back up there anyway, I decided to unplug the linksys box, reset is, unplug the cable box, plug it back in and for whatever reason, it worked. We all have internet again! Wow, that was a stupid way to spend two hours. I don't even know why it worked the last time, I didn't do anything different. As long as it worked, I don't care. Oy.

As for the rest of my day, it was pretty good. In the morning I went to go cover my gray hair (couldn't take it anymore). It's a nice coppery, dark coppery, red color. My eyebrows for those of you interested in those things, are the same color as my hair, I match! I was going to get a sandwich on my way home, but I ran out of money, seriously, I don't even have one dollar in my wallet, anybody want to give me a loan? I get my paycheck on Wednesday, until then, I'm broke. Oh well. So, I got home, ate a bowl of cereal, talked to my boyfriend on the phone while he was on his break, and got ready to go to school. Then there was school. Nothing very exciting to mention there. College is almost over for the term, so glad about that. Last day of classes is May 16th, two days before my birthday. Then there is Finals Week, and I'm finished. Oh, I sooo want to be finished, lol.

Tomorrow, I'm either going to try to reorganize my room, or go to the gym. I will probably do neither, lol. Later, in the evening, I'm going to go out with my boyfriend. I'm not sure what we're doing exactly. It might involve pool, otherwise known as billiards. Hmm... I'll let you know after the fact.

And yes bloggers, I'm talking to you. How was your day?
